General Comments

Despite the outward appearance of being a regal, demure, stunning Russian Blue with lovely hazel eyes, just below the surface lies an incredibly affectionate, playful, and busy gal who makes a funny snorting noise when she gets super excited about something!

Nellie…”Party of One”; that is how we like to describe her, although a close second is “Whoa Nellie!”  Nellie is a very active, inquisitive kitty who will play with any toy that crosses her path!  She thrills at the opportunity to chase any type of ball, batting it across the room until she captures it and then proudly walks around the room carrying it in her mouth!  She is able to multi-task and play with multiple balls at the same time!  She thinks ping-pong balls are great fun, probably due to the noise they make rolling across the floor and bouncing off the wall!  Nellie loves leaping into the air to catch feather wands…she is especially a big fan of a stuffed bird toy adorned in feathers…she’ll strut around the room with it in her mouth to show everyone how it’s done!  Nellie also likes to get in some boxing practice, trying out different moves on the unfortunate toy being dangled in front of her at any given moment.  Inanimate stuffed toys minding their own business do not escape Nellie’s notice…she’ll march right over, carefully select one ,and then carry it around in her mouth until she’s ready to move onto to her next toy!  Nellie is such a fun kitty; the pure joy she gets during her playtime sessions will make you laugh out loud and leave a smile on both of your faces!  She is a blast and will keep both herself and you entertained with her antics!

If she’s not playing, there’s a good chance our Nellie will cajole you into spending some quality snuggle time with her by following you around and persuasively rubbing against your legs!  This incredibly affectionate gal loves attention and has so much love to give you in return!  Nellie will let you know just how much she loves you with kisses, head bumps, and her specialty…rubbing her nose against your nose!  The jackpot comes as soon as you sit down…Nellie doesn’t waste a moment filling the vacancy in your lap where you can reward her with a good petting and brushing session.  In return, she’ll reward you with more head butts and a couple snorts of happiness.  The more love she gets, the louder the snorts are!  Nellie’s snorts are incredibly cute, endearing, and never fail to make you smile!   Nellie can’t help the snorting so she embraces it!

This incredibly sweet girl not only adores people, she adores other furry companions!  Nellie loves playing with other friendly kitties and doesn’t hesitate to groom any of her kitty pals that are within licking distance!  She LOVES snuggling up close to her kitty friends!  She has a fun game that she plays with fellow RESCUE kitty Jasmine…Jasmine hides under packing paper and then Nellie jumps on her!  Nellie wasted no time greeting a volunteer’s dog…she went right up to the dog for a nose-to-nose greeting.  She then proceeded to go under and around the dog’s legs to let her know that they were going to be very good friends!  It doesn’t matter who Nellie encounters…human, feline, or canine…they will all be her new friend if she has anything to say about it!

Honestly, we just love this girl…to quote one volunteer, “Nellie is the best darn kitty in the world.”  High praise indeed!  Nellie is so special…she is an absolute joy to spend time with and will do great in any home, making some lucky person or family an amazing companion!  Nellie is a gem, an all-around great kitty who is sure to bring much love and laughter to her forever family’s home!
