Jennifer and Brutus met us in the parking lot so the dogs could meet on neutral ground first. Brutus wasn?t too sure about Nicolas, but they sniffed and seemed fine with each other. We then went back to the apartment and Nicolas made himself right at home with some of Brutus? toys. Turns out they have a bunny toy that is the same one as Nicolas? favorite toy at his foster home! He was happy to demonstrate his love for squeaking the bunny toy and even ?buried? another toy behind a recliner (another one of his funny little quirks). Brutus still wasn?t too sure about him and kept giving us looks as if to ask ?Seriously? Tell me he?s not staying.? But Brutus just let Nicolas have the toys and jump all over the sofa, though there was a little pouting going on. We decide an overnight would be best for letting the boys have some time to get to know each other. By the next morning, they were getting along just fine and I know they?ll be best buddies and playing together soon. Nicolas is going to be a happy and somewhat spoiled little guy. He?ll get multiple walks a day, as Jennifer will come home everyday at lunch to give them potty breaks. He can look forward to hikes at the nearby mountain trail. And he has plenty of toys to choose from (all of which squeak). He?ll also get to sport some funky sweaters, and at the end of the day he?ll get to curl up in a cozy bed with his mom and canine brother. It took Nicolas almost a full year of being with RESCUE, but he finally found the perfect forever home. We?ll miss you little guy, but we?re so happy to know you?re home now.

Activity Level: Minimal - a 10-minute walk every other day should be fine
House Trained: Yes
Leash Manners: I am easy to walk and pull very little
Grooming Requirements: I need regular brushing and the occasional bath

Sociability with Dogs: Does fine with other dogs, could live with another dog or as the only dog
Sociability with Cats: Good with cats or at least indifferent to them
General Personality: Shy and hesitant initially, will need some time to know they're safe and loved

General Comments: Nicolas is a spunky little guy with TONS of personality! He may look like a Chihuahua but acts like a pug. He has the cutest little snort and even snores a bit when he's sleeping!

Sweet Nicolas loves people, cats, and his stuffed ducky toy! It's his most prized possesion. Nic loves to carry it around and bury it underneath a rug or behind the couch. He may love his ducky but he also loves his people. Nic will rest his head in or against your hand and take a snooze. If you are sitting or kneeling down trying to tie your shoes, he'll come over, rest his head in your hand, and close his eyes.

His ideal family would have room for two...him and his ducky. He's looking for a family that's home more than they're away - so they can give him lots of hugs and kisses. He's hoping his new family will take him to puppy classes to teach him some new tricks like sit, stay, and handshake - since he loves hands so much! :)

My Ideal Home looks like: Adult home only.
