(With Malcolm and former RESCUE dog Nic)

Katie has settled in fabulously! She and I have already gotten very close. She sleeps next to me every night, and when I settle in to read on the couch, she curls up on one side and Malcolm is on the other. She and Malcolm hang out together all day and although Katie's tail has knocked into poor little Malcolm once in awhile, that's the extent of their contact.

�

We all take walks together everyday, and Katie and Malcolm both sniff the same spots on the grass at the same time. They also share dinner... Katie goes and checks out what Malcolm is eating, and vice versa. Katie has a Nylabone that she is roughing up a bit, and she enjoys running around with her squeaky toy cat whenever I come home. She also always has her monkey toy with her (see the picture).

She's got quite a voice on her! She does tend to bark a lot when she hears something suspicious, but I am beginning to work with her so she learns "one bark is enough." It's going to take time, but she is so intelligent and easy to train.

Let's see... today she had her first bath! She did very well. Every night before dinner, first I take Malcolm for a walk separately to check the mail, and then Katie and I take a 1.5 mile walk around the neighborhood. She's already familiar with our route, and has figured out where the dogs live along the way. She's made friends with other dogs we've met, and we even did a short outing to the dog park over the weekend, where she did wonderfully and always came back to me if I called her. I've had no problems with her--she isn't destructive, she has been very sweet after she does her initial barking when my family and friends visit, and no accidents in the house.

Anyway, I am very happy to have her with us, and Malcolm seems to be perfectly fine with the arrangement as well. They tend to always be in the same room when I am home, and one will follow the other's lead. It's very cute.
