Misha
Things are going wonderfully. We've renamed Kimmie "Misha" and have started introductions with the rest of the animal family. She actually took quite well to our 65 lb dog Maya. Misha will hiss a little bit at her from time to time, but it seems to be pretty random, sometimes she lets the dog lick her head without making a sound. Who knows!
As far as our other cat Ema, Misha hasn't warmed to her yet. We keep their interaction still pretty limited, and are doing the blanket-swap all the time. Whenever we put a fresh "Ema" blanket on Misha's bed she hisses at it like crazy and sometimes if she comes running over to her bed and gets startled by Ema's smell she will jump straight into the air. It does make us laugh. She growls at Ema which makes Ema hiss. They are separated during the day when we are at work and they both seem to be using this time to rest up. When we get home they are all together and we'll feed them wet food next to each other and they will even share a plate. Most nights we all sleep together, Misha on the "top floor" of her cat condo right next to our bed, Maya on her dog bed on the floor next to our bed, and Ema on the bed itself. On occasion they will all get to running around after each other at 3am and we have to put them each in their own room. Each day Misha and Ema seem to be warming more to each other. It will be nice when they can stay in the same room together during the day because I think they will enjoy running around and playing.
We have a few games we play with Misha, mostly "fetch" and she is so smart it is scary. She just loves, loves, loves to play and I think Kevin spends about 90 minutes a night with her on some sort of "game" - she is so dog-like! She definitely is not a cuddler so when she is affectionate (like this morning when she crawled under the covers with me after Kevin left for work and licked my arm), I just melt!!
We love her a ton already and know that she and Ema will make it - it will just take them some more time to be best buddies. I can remember how long it took Ema and Pandora, so I know it will happen eventually.
Thanks for everything!
Melina
P.S. Misha had her Vet appointment on Wednesday and got her last shot in the 3-1 series and a clean bill of health. My vet though she was stunning and definitely noticed her spunky personality (he said that she seemed like she didn't know if she should hiss or purr at him so she was sort of doing both!).
