General Comments

Sometimes at RESCUE we are grateful that the dogs cannot talk.  Sometimes the stories that they could tell would break your heart.  Looking only at her smiling, happy face you would think that Sandy has had a great life.  She's a well adjusted dog, gets along great with everyone and everything.  She has excellent leash manners, rides well in the car, we've never heard her bark and overall is an extremely well mannered dog that walks around smiling all day.

Since the moment we met Sandy she has had this smile on her face from ear to ear.  She looks at you like you are the greatest human she has ever met and will happily stand by you just hanging out.  Sadly, Sandy's body gives us clues to her past that shouldn't reflect a smiling faced dog.  Sandy has scars on her "sit bones" which were likely caused from sitting and/or laying on concrete for long periods of time.  Sandy had almost no fur when we rescued her which was due to a long untreated thyroid condition which lead to a yeast infection that spread over her body leaving her infected and hot to the touch.  She was in such bad shape the vet wasn't sure she could pull through.  But Sandy's tremendous spirit proved otherwise.  Within three weeks of treatment her fur started growing back.  The infections were gone and she was pain free! And thankfully it appears through all that Sandy's no worse for the wear on the inside.

Sandy loves life and is happy to be alive every day.  We are happy for her too.  Now we just need to find a home where Sandy can be spoiled for the rest of her life.  Daily walks, petting and a comfy dog bed would be all Sandy would need.  If you have another dog, Sandy wouldn't mind.  She's a mellow gal so ideally a dog closer to her age would make a nice companion for her but Sandy would be fine as an only dog too.  ?If you are looking for a gentle big dog to meander around the neighborhoods Sandy is your gal.  Sandy is an excellent car co-pilot too and would make an excellent companion for car ride adventures up to the cooler parts of AZ and beyond.

Sandy is a special old soul.  It's truly sad that we missed out on knowing Sandy sooner but we're hoping that her forever family will make up for the earlier chapters of her life.  Please complete an application for her today.
