Below you will see that RESCUE offers a variety of choices so that you may choose an area that is most compatible with your talents, passion, and schedule. The committees below work with CATS...

Cat Foster Parent (CF) This position involves caring for one or more of our cats in your home while they are awaiting adoption. If you love cats and want one of the most rewarding jobs we have, then look no further. Ideally all of our cats will be able to experience the love and attention a foster home can provide. There are certain requirements prior to being approved as a Foster Parent, including completing a Foster Parent Application and interview.  

Training:     Moderate
Shifts:     On-Call


Personal Care Technician (PCT) This position involves working with the cats that are boarded at our Feline Care Center (FCC). It includes maintaining the well-being of the cats by cleaning out their cages and litterboxes, refreshing food and water, and providing much needed TLC. If you love cats but can't foster this is the job for you. There is a small amount of paperwork involved to monitor the health of our cats. 

Training:     Moderate
Shifts:     Weekdays, (M-F) 7:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. or 3:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.; Weekends, (Sat, Sun) 6:30 A.M.-9:30 A.M. or 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M.
Location:     Feline Care Center


Cat Transporter (CT) This position involves providing safe transport for the cats between our veterinary hospitals and our Feline Care Center. Use of your own vehicle is required.

Training:     Minimal
Shifts:     On-Call

Dog Foster Parent (DF) This position involves caring for one of our dogs in your home while they are awaiting adoption. Shifts:     On-Call


Dog Caretaker (DC) This position involves spending quality time with our dogs. It includes maintaining the safety and well-being of the dog while in your care, as well as answering general questions posed by the public at special events. If you love dogs but can't foster this job is for you.  

Training:     Moderate
Shifts:     Weekends (Sat, Sun) 10:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. and 1:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M., and at special events.
Location:     RESCUE events or other approved locations (dog park, etc)


Dog Walker (DW) This position involves working specifically with the dogs while they are boarded at our Veterinary Hospitals. It includes exercising our dogs and providing them with love and companionship.  

Training:     Moderate
Shifts:     Weekdays only, (M-F), Mornings and Evenings between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M.
Location:     Boarding Facilities

The committees below work with the PUBLIC...

Ambassador (RA) This position involves attending special events and educating the public about our mission and our Matchmaking Service. It includes gathering general information from a potential adopter and translating that information to our Matchmakers, who then facilitate a more thorough interview.

Training:     Moderate
Shifts:     Varied, depending on event schedule.
Location:     Various locations determined by event.


The committees below exist for RESCUE volunteers who have been involved in at least one other area of the organization for a minimum of six months. The volunteers that comprise these groups have gone through extensive training and have been promoted into these areas.


Pound Crew This team evaluates and selects the animals we rescue from the pound. They also transport them to our veterinary hospitals and boarding facilities.

Training:     Substantial
Shifts:     On-Call


Matchmaker (MM) This position involves following up with potential adopters by phone and conducting an extensive interview to determine the appropriateness of the home and the best potential animal matches. It also includes coordinating any subsequent meetings between the potential adopters and our animals.

Training:     Substantial
Shifts:     On-Call


Private Appointment Adoption Counselor (PAAC) This position involves overseeing the face-to-face meeting, coordinated by a Matchmaker, between a screened potential adopter and one of our animals. It includes making the final assessment as to the quality and appropriateness of the animal match and finalizing the adoption paperwork.

Training:     Substantial
Shifts:     On-Call
Location:     Various locations determined by adoption appointment.


Cat & Dog Follow-up This group makes follow-up calls to recent adopters to solicit information about how their new pet is acclimating to their new homes and offer support for any adjustment problems. They also share the heartwarming stories they hear with the rest of our volunteers.


Fundraising This group works to staff, create, implement, and manage RESCUE's 4-6 major fundraising events every year.
